This project began with a sip of Yerba Mate and quickly became a journey of discovery.
Fascinated by the taste, the ritual, and the deep-rooted tradition surrounding Mate, we seek to share it with others across Europe – where finding good yerba can still be a challenge.
Rooted in respect and admiration for Argentine culture, El Matero Holandés celebrates taste and tradition, aiming to educate, inspire, and build community around Mate. Through online content and curated products – starting with high-quality Yerba and expanding into Mates and accessories – the brand invites newcomers and seasoned Materos alike to connect with the essence of this traditional drink.
About me
I’m a Dutch guy, a footballer – and maybe unexpectedly – someone who fell in love with the world of Mate. What started as curiosity about an unfamiliar taste soon turned into a deep admiration for Argentine culture and the ritual that comes with it.
Through El Matero Holandés, I want to share my journey: honest stories, quality products, and above all the unique sense of friendship and connection that Mate brings. Whether you’re holding a bombilla for the first time or you’ve been a Matero for years – together we celebrate the taste, the tradition, and the moment.
